  My time as an intern at Monarch Recovery, completing my practicum hours for my Master’s degree in Addiction Psychology, has been an extraordinary journey. From the very first day, the warmth and kindness of the staff made me feel welcomed and supported, fostering an environment that was both professional and nurturing. Throughout my nearly two-year tenure, I was fortunate to engage in a variety of meaningful experiences that significantly contributed to both my personal and professional growth. I had the opportunity to facilitate groups and gain firsthand experience in the field. My internship’s most impactful aspect was direct supervision from program director Shane Bess. His guidance, expertise, and constructive feedback shaped my approach. Under his mentorship, I learned about intake and assessment procedures, personalized treatment plans, and handling clinical dilemmas. The instruction and hands-on experience I received at Monarch Recovery have been pivotal in my development as a future addiction psychologist. The supportive and knowledgeable staff, coupled with the diverse client base, created a learning environment that continuously challenged and inspired me. I am deeply grateful for the opportunities, support, and mentorship I received during my time at Monarch Recovery. This experience has not only enhanced my professional competencies but also contributed to significant personal growth. The clients at Monarch have been exceptional to collaborate with. It has been rewarding to observe their transformation from apprehension on their first day to becoming confident individuals who are eager to apply their newfound knowledge and skills effectively🦋. The clients consistently contribute to the group’s humorous atmosphere, and I have always left the rooms with a smile on my face. I wholeheartedly recommend Monarch Recovery to any student seeking an educational practicum/internship or recovery from a substance use disorder.

  I came from Oklahoma very broken and lost. My time with Monarch Recovery IOP, was just what I needed. I completed the IOP program and got my life and myself back, CLEAN !!! Thank you everyone ❤️

  This recovery center was exactly what we were looking for when my son came to see them. Everyone in their offices from the person who answers the phones to the counselors to the therapists to the psychiatrist. These people made a difference in my son’s life and I’m grateful. Highly recommend.

  Monarch Recovery has been the best thing that happened in my 25years of life ! The support and love l've gotten from my counselors to staff members as a patient have been heart warming, I came into Ventura county hopeless and searching for a purpose or some sort of direction in my life & to escape my active addiction. The therapy and support l've received here are indescribable. I'm 5months sober today and I couldn't have done it without the unconditional love l've received from everyone here. If your looking for help or some kind of support to get out of the lowest lows you won't regret being a client here at monarch recovery <3
